Hello! My name is Teresa, I am 24 years old and am doing the master’s program Global Studies in Austria. Before finishing my studies, I decided to go abroad for a few months and collect some experience in the field of sustainability. I came to Acarbio in august 2021 and immediately received the big and responsible task to coordinate the ESC project Make it Blue. It was a pleasure meeting so many young people from around Europe and to connect and learn from them. We did a lot of interesting and meaningful activities – from cleaning waste next to the streets of Tramonti, to clearing walking paths and painting dirty walls. The months of autumn were filled with work in the garden. We harvested grapes, chestnuts, tomatoes, and olives, and transformed them into wine, tomato sauce and other awesome products. We also used the colder and darker days to organize international evenings, where each one of the interns cooked a typical dish and prepared some cultural program. A big part of my activities here was also the Re Fiascone project. I helped in the harvest and transformation of the tomatoes and in the cleaning and labelling of the jars. It was so interesting to see how tomato sauce is being made and how much work goes into the creation of the product that people all over the world are buying. I am able to appreciate handmade products a lot more now.Another highlight I have to mention is Enzo’s cooking. Every now and then we stayed at the office for lunch and Enzo cooked some typical dishes, all including pasta, of course. I was able to learn a few recipes and will enjoy cooking pasta at home. The region of Campagna offers so much to visit and discover. In my free time, I was able to enjoy and explore the Amalfi Coast, Napoli, Pompeii and the Vesuvio. One of the best things that happened here though is the contact to local people. We became friends with Isidoro and Raffaele who play music that is typical for this area of Italy. They taught us so much about local traditions and music instruments and I am very grateful for their friendship. In the end I can only say that I learned and experienced so much in the five months I stayed in Tramonti. I am grateful for every moment – for all the pastas and pizzas I ate here (yes, the best pizza in the world can be found here), for all the people I met here, and for all the tasks that gave me insights on how an NGO works.

RESOCONTO DEL MIO TIROCINIO PRESSO ACARBIO

Ciao! mi chiamo Teresa, ho 24 anni e sto frequentando il master Global Studies in Austria. Prima di terminare gli studi, ho deciso di andare all’estero per qualche mese e raccogliere alcune esperienze nel campo della sostenibilità. Sono venuta ad Acarbio nel mese di Agosto 2021 e ho ricevuto subito il grande e responsabile incarico di coordinare il progetto ESC Make it Blue. E’ stato un piacere incontrare così tanti giovani da tutta Europa e connettersi e imparare da loro. Abbiamo svolto molte attività interessanti e significative: dalla pulizia dei rifiuti vicino alle strade di Tramonti, allo sgombero dei sentieri e alla pittura di muri sporchi. I mesi autunnali erano pieni di lavori in giardino. Abbiamo raccolto uva, castagne, pomodori e olive e li abbiamo trasformati in vino, salsa di pomodoro e altri fantastici prodotti. Abbiamo anche sfruttato le giornate più fredde e buie per organizzare serate internazionali, dove ciascuno degli stagisti ha cucinato un piatto tipico e preparato un programma culturale. Gran parte delle mie attività qui è stata anche il progetto Re Fiascone. Ho aiutato nella raccolta e trasformazione dei pomodori e nella pulizia ed etichettatura dei vasetti. È stato così interessante vedere come viene prodotta la salsa di pomodoro e quanto lavoro ci vuole nella creazione del prodotto che le persone di tutto il mondo stanno acquistando. Adesso sono in grado di apprezzare molto di più i prodotti fatti a mano. Un altro punto forte che devo menzionare è la cucina di Enzo. Ogni tanto restavamo in ufficio a pranzo ed Enzo cucinava dei piatti tipici, tutti pasta compresa, ovviamente. Ho potuto imparare alcune ricette e mi divertirò a cucinare la pasta a casa. La regione Campagna offre tanto da visitare e scoprire. Nel tempo libero ho potuto godermi ed esplorare la Costiera Amalfitana, Napoli, Pompei e il Vesuvio. Una delle cose migliori che sono successe qui è il contatto con la gente del posto. Abbiamo stretto amicizia con Isidoro e Raffaele che suonano musica tipica di questa zona d’Italia. Ci hanno insegnato tanto sulle tradizioni locali e sugli strumenti musicali e sono molto grata per la loro amicizia. Alla fine posso solo dire che ho imparato e sperimentato tanto nei cinque mesi in cui ho soggiornato a Tramonti. Sono grata per ogni momento – per tutte le paste e le pizze che ho mangiato qui (sì, la migliore pizza del mondo si trova qui), per tutte le persone che ho incontrato qui e per tutti i compiti che mi hanno dato spunti su come una ONG lavora.
